This route takes us to the Sierra de Aracena, which is located an hour and a half north of Seville. This mountain range is a place loved by Sevillians for their rural escapades and to contact nature. In the excursion we will cross the pastures of Sierra Morena where the brave bull and the Iberian pig live to reach the town of Aracena where we will visit its castle and the Grotto of Wonders. Forests of chestnut trees and green dehesas. A landscape of magical mountains, white villages and dreamy castles where the famous Iberian Ham is produced, one of the richest in the world.

We will leave from Seville at 9:00 in the morning towards Aracena to arrive around 10:30. There with our tourist card Aracena we can combine the following visits to our liking: Its 13th century castle that was part of the “Galician band” line of defense of the kingdom of Seville before the Portuguese attacks, the famous Grotto of Wonders, one of the most impressive subterranean caves in Europe, with its illuminated rooms and its multitude of stalagmites and stalactites and the Museo del Jamón, an outstanding product of local gastronomy. At the end our guide will accompany you to a typical restaurant in the town where we will offer you a tasting of the delicious local delicacies. After the tasting they will have a free time to eat or make purchases of typical products of the region in the center of the town.

Around 16:00 we will leave Aracena to visit another town in the region before returning to Seville. Alajar, and its Peña de Arias Montano, with its beautiful views, where the sanctuary of Our Lady of the Angels is located. Other corners of the mountain range to discover are the mosque of Almonaster la Real, the mines of Rio tinto or the chestnut woods of Fuenteheridos and the possibility of visiting a farm of wild bulls (this option can be hired as an extra)

We will leave for Seville around 5:30 to be back at your hotel or accommodation around 8:00 p.m.

The excursion is perfect for families with children and discover the wonders of underground routes, they will have a great time!

My friend and I went to Aracena with Alfonso and had an amazing experience! The whole day was meticulously planned so that we could explore leisurely with fun historical and cultural visits to guide our day. Alfonso went out of his way to make sure that we enjoyed each aspect of the experience to its fullest from recommending dessert places in Aracena to taking us to see the best views on our drive back to Sevilla. The entire day, and especially seeing the Cave of Wonders, was an unforgettable experience!
